Water From The Well

Guide To Spending Time With God Series || Start Afresh

“again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”
-Hebrews 4:7 NKJV

But why should my relationship with God be in shambles?

But why should my heart no longer pant after the Lord?

But why do I never get to spend time with the Lord?

Why does my job take first place in my life?

Why does sleep take first place in my heart?

Why would I rather watch a movie than watch a sermon?

What’s becoming of my heart?

Why is my heart no longer stirred by affection for the Lord?

Oh daughter of the most High weep for what you have lost!

Weep for how gone you have gone.

Shut down your day to ask the Holy Spirit to pour out afresh upon you again.

Do you not hear Him call?

Don’t you feel empty without His manifest presence? Why are you comfortable without His voice whispering in your ears and sending you on to start your day in Him? Don’t you miss being able to commune with the lover of your soul?

Are you so far gone?

Can’t you hear Him calling?

How did you get here where you are no longer broken before Him? How is it that your heart is so hardened to His call?

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20 NKJV

Can you hear Him knocking on the door of your heart?

Can you hear His urgent call?

Come spend just 20 minutes with me. Come sit before me. Come tell me you you love me. Come listen to how much I value you.

You have let the world into your heart for too long.

Is there no room for me?

Is there no space in your heart for me?

Just 20 minutes?

Come sing to me. I love to hear your voice. Its been so long.

Please come.

“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”

Guide To Spending Time With God Series || No Condemnation

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 8:1 KJV

Our journey to knowing God better and spending time with Him may be filled with ups and downs – and sometimes let’s admit it, it may be filled with more downs than ups.

Drawing close to God may not be a perpetual high walk in the park.
And so after purposing in your heart and being so excited about sitting before the Lord to drink of Him by 5am, you find yourself still in bed by 6am and when you are late for work who still remembers the promise they made to God the night before?

You decide that you still have lunch break to dig into God but then lunch time comes and you find yourself just so tired all you can do is eat and gist with your colleagues.

You decide that the first thing you will do when you get home is to spend time with God but then you get home and fall into bed without even taking off your clothes!

And now you are really beginning to feel bad and guilty. This same routine has gone on for a week and you cannot even bear to face God with your “sorry self”. The guilt is really weighing on you.. you don’t think that Daddy could ever even be pleased with you.

But here is Daddy’s word to you:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…
Sometimes in a bid to do good things we get into the law and works. Which simply means we try to gain God’s approval by the good things we want to do. So we think that if we are not doing that good thing then God cannot be pleased with us.

God wants us to spend with Him and delight ourselves in Him but this should come from a place of love and not guilt or works.

It should be that you love God and cannot do without Him and so want to drink of Him as against “if I don’t do this, God won’t even look at poor ol’ me”.

Condemnation is not of God but of satan.
The Holy Spirit’s work is to CONVICT you unto repentance. And once you sincerely repent of your sins/shortcomings this minute or in a second God is right there with you.

The relationship we have with Daddy is one of a Father and son.

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
-Romans 8:15 KJV

You can come to God and say “Daddy I am so sorry, I haven’t been spending time with you as much as I should. Please forgive me. Help me start a new walk with you. Give me the grace and hunger and thirst for you. Fill me with fresh hunger and thirst for your word above sleep and tiredness. Let you be the one I truly desire more than anything else.

You can pray like that and start a new day with God knowing that His mercies are new everyday.

Wherever you have been in your relationship with God. You can start a fresh walk with Him today. Even when you fall, you can go back to Him and ask for grace. He gives grace, not condemnation.

Being Unceasing In Prayer

This is a study we dug into in our online group last weekend with Frances sharing with us. We pray that it encourages you to stay in the place of prayer and remain steadfast by God’s grace. .amen.

So I have been a bit lazy in prayer this week.

In fact, since after Saturday’s hours in tongues I wanted to relax and rest, especially as that Saturday and Sunday night I didn’t sleep well.
So I wanted to rest. And rest from Saturday night entered monday. And this week I think i have only prayed at night twice. Yes i prayed in the daytime, but night-time in felt like..let me sleep..i have tried. Gradually i wanted to start seeping into discouragement.  Like i have been praying since, if that one never do.. God what else.
Especially yesterday. I felt lethargy to go sit before the Lord.

No mushy feelings and no hard rush God I love you!  Just a sense of “Lord I’m tired”.
So today I started listening to Kenneth Hagin’s message i downloaded on Angels.

Since i cannot function without God and feelings or no feelings I have to fill up.. i downloaded messages to help me.
In the dream i and some ladies wanted to go out. I think to have fun or something. We were loading stuff into the boot of the car. Then i remembered that i forgot something in the house and i went back to get it.

And I saw Kenneth Hagin in the house. He took me round and started telling me about how the Spirit of grace and supplication fell on some people and they were praying for non stop. He mentioned something about two hours prayer or something.

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought.  And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think,  yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ”   And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.  And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

-Luke 18:1‭-‬8 NIV

We have had a pretty intense last two months spiritually on the earth. Here on twtw for those who followed the fast and prayers,we were on a high last month. It’s easy to think that things should cool off a bit and you need to rest/need a break.

And then if you also have some stuff in your life you need change in, it’s easy to think “i have been sitting before the Lord all these while.. faithful.. praying. . Digging in.. where are you Lord!?. Little by little lethargy starts to brew, your prayer time alarm rings and you snooze it.
But I believe God was telling me today that it’s not yet time for fun, it’s not yet time for lukewarmness, not yet time to go gallivanting around and needed a break.

He poured out the Spirit of prayer and supplication on us for nonstop prayer.

I read that passage on the msg version:

“Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. He said, “There was once a judge in some city who never gave God a thought and cared nothing for people.

A widow in that city kept after him: ‘My rights are being violated. Protect me!’ “He never gave her the time of day.

But after this went on and on he said to himself, ‘I care nothing what God thinks, even less what people think. But because this widow won’t quit badgering me, I’d better do something and see that she gets justice—otherwise I’m going to end up beaten black-and-blue by her pounding.’” Then the Master said, “Do you hear what that judge, corrupt as he is, is saying? So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you, he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?”

-Luke 18:1‭-‬8 MSG

I underlined  a few things in my Bible..

Never quit

Jesus’ rhetorical question also hit me:

How many would I find on earth with such persistent faith?”

Where is persistent faith built? Its in unanswered prayers

Where is character built?

Where  are we made in God?

Persistent faith…

Whats the raw material for persistent faith?
How is a Christian built enough to be unshaken.. how is her root dug deep?

Never giving up prayer..
Why is God looking for those who can push through?

Because Jesus said those kind of people are rare.

He says “how much of that kind of persistent faith will I find. . When I return”
Is your faith persistent? Enough to say.. “Lord I will still sit you till you deem fit to rain from heaven upon me?”

Sometimes we give up so easily. I have realised that sometimes when we say “God’s will be done.. whatever he says oh”.

It’s not that we are praying for His will but because we are tired and are in unbelief.
God is asking “who can build back bone in prayer? In intercession. Who can I find who won’t let me go till I arise with healing in my wings for them?”
I found that one tip to remain persistent in prayer is to make the object of our worship God. If the object of our worship is our need, we will lose grip when we don’t see it However if we have the mindset of  “I have no where else to turn, if I  don’t sit before you i can’t live”

If God has become our sustenance then we can’t live without him.
It’s now no longer a function of needs or things.. but a function of.. *if I don’t pray and sit before my Lord.. I can’t survive*
Not all persistence have the mushy feelings attached.

I imagine that this widow wasn’t always so revved up to meet the judge, some days she must have went by just a sheer force of will, not because she liked to see the Judge’s face. We shouldn’t wait for feelings to sit before the Lord.
We need backbones as Christians. We need to grow,we need to stop crying and be able to say like Jesus “it is written”

No matter what I see.. “it is written Lord. . Your word says…

And stand upon it.. our language must change to that of the word.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

-Philippians 4:6‭-‬7 MSG

Worry sitting as centre of our lives is what causes discouragement. The art of learning how to take issues to God in prayer is one that will last us forever. The skill of replacing worry with prayer is a very valuable,  it’s a skill we cannot do without.

It says you can take your worries to prayer and maybe you are even anxious as you pray, but as you continue in prayer a sense of peace will displace worry in your heart.

If you have to do that skill 20 times a day. Do it. Stay persistent
God help us in this season to dig in as we should in Jesus name.. amen.

Introducing: Guide To Spending Time With God Series

I wrote the above in my journal at a time God was convicting me about being focused ONLY on my bar finals with little or no time left for Him.

He spoke to me with the classic Mary and Martha story.

As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home.

Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.

But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”

But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!

There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

-Luke 10:38-42, NLT

Since the day that this passage spoke so strongly to me, it has not stopped being a “call me back” scripture for the days that I seem to have forgotten what is more important in my relationship with Jesus.

From our love and relationship conference, we know that God is also calling lots of us back to RELATIONSHIP AND INTIMACY with Him and the way He is showing us back to His heart is to SPEND TIME WITH HIM.

As simple as SPENDING TIME WITH GOD sounds, we know that it is one of the areas that many Christians default at today. Christians are generally humbled when they are asked about their prayer, word life and intimacy/relationship with Jesus – and that is because more often than not, they have veered off the path of SEEKING HIS FACE and not His gifts.

Sometimes this deviation is subtle and may not have been on for long and sometimes God really does need to do something almost miraculous to get some of us to go back to sitting at His feet again.

We hope that this series on the blog would serve as that miraculous work by God on your heart – to get you to sit back at the Master’s feet where you should be.

We would first of all examine those verses in Luke and what it means for us, with the aim of us again remembering the usefulness of sitting at Jesus’ feet and breaking down the roadblocks that have hitherto being our excuse.

Let’s begin:

As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed them into her home.

Jesus came into Martha’s home –Martha opened her home to Jesus but she only ended there. She didn’t allow Him access to her.

You have opened your life to Jesus but are you letting Him water your life?

Are you spending time with Him? Time enough to let the relationship between you both blossom? If you don’t spend time together and water the relationship, the love might go dim. It might decrease.

So after salvation and giving your heart to Jesus, what next?

You just keep still and start giving your heart to other things like Martha did?

That’s not what Jesus wants. He wants you to pull a seat up, sit down and “let’s talk, let’s relate”.

Will you respond to Him and answer His call to get to know you even as you get to know Him?

Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught.

But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing.

Martha was the one who opened her home to Jesus but even she didn’t know what to do when Jesus comes knocking at the door of your life/house.

She thought that He wanted something from her and she wanted to please Him, not knowing that it is not so much as what you have to give to Him but what He has to give to you.

All the hustle and bustle you do in running around because you want to sow a seed of a million dollars to God as tithe while forgetting that what you get while spending time with Jesus is what really matters is all a DISTRACTION as Jesus called it.

You don’t add to Jesus; He is God all by Himself. All the things you do that you think you are doing for Him but is pulling you away from Him is not what matters. He wants to add to your life and He can only do that if you sit at His feet and LISTEN like Mary did.

Do you currently do that in your life?

What is your excuse?

Maybe your excuse is that you are actually doing something legitimate for God. You are about your assignments and His purpose for your life But all Jesus calls those things are DISTRACTIONS.

What is distracting you?

Your phone?

Social media?

Your earthly relationships?

Your job?

Cooking for your spouse or looking after the household?

Are you distracted with preparations that you have to make for Jesus’s work just like Martha was?

What would be Jesus’ reply to all your running around if He was here with you physically right now?

But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!

There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.

Jesus is not saying that all the other things aren’t important but if you are concerned with them so much that you leave out time with Jesus, He says that you are concerned about what is not important.

Would you give me my own time first of all in your life?

Would you chose sitting at my feet as your first priority?

Do you currently give Jesus His own time in your life?

Lord I have strayed farther than I want to be. I have let busyness take your place. Lord I am sorry. Please forgive me. And call me back Lord. Please call me back. Let your voice be loud and clear in my ears. Pull me right back to loving you in the way that matters to you.

Do you currently struggle with sitting at Jesus’ feet?

What’s your biggest challenge with this?

Please comment below and let’s see how we can all help each other through this.

Till next week on this series,

Lots of love,

Spiritual Growth Series || The Power Of Prayer

In my relationship with God, prayer has been my lifeline – the lifeline.

I have grown in intimacy with God through the way we communicate in prayer. I have heard His whispers when I ask Him a question. I have seen His arms wrap around me as I cry out to Him for help. The truth is that prayer has a way tuning our hearts to God and tuning His heart to ours.

TWTW usually have prayer time with a few ladies every last Sunday of the month and at the last prayer time, after asking the Spirit to take control, we ended up with joy so full in our hearts it was unreal. The Spirit poured out fresh fire, zeal and grace to run the race upon us. We left literally bouncing on our feet. That’s what prayer can do.

Prayer isn’t only in the thous and thees and it is not only for spiritual warfare but it is a means of communicating with our Father in heaven.

(the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray)

Our Father in heaven speaks of the relationship that exists between us and God. He wants to hear us speak to Him. He wants to hear us cry out to Him and He desires to answer us in return – that is prayer and as this exchange goes on, our souls are better turned to God’s soul – we become better conformed to His image and this is basically what we desire in spiritual growth. To be conformed more and more to the image of the son.

There is way we can communicate with God all through our day but then we can also have a prayer altar with God where we simply go to pour out our heart, joys, fears, desires and let’s face it, also do some spiritual warfare at.

One of the things our Naomi’s spoke about at our March meet was the importance of having a prayer altar as a woman of God.

How does this work?

1: Have a time and a place:

If prayer is that important to you, you will give God your time for it. You might struggle at first but it gets easier as your flesh adjusts to it.

Some persons wait till there is an issue they have to resolve, A.K.A till there is fire on the mountain and then they start to wake up at night to petition heaven. No, let heaven already recognize your voice before an issue arises in your life.

It’s amazing to see how people would take away food and sleep when they have an issue they need God for but as soon as it is gone, we cry out that there is no time. We are simply at ease in Zion; that is the simple truth and what happens when the enemy sees that you are at ease?

While men slept, the enemy came and sowed tares.

God shall not see us sleeping in Jesus name, amen.

As women we need to burn our spiritual candles and dig into God. In good times and bad times.

Have a place. It may be your kitchen, your toilet, your sitting room. Your balcony. A spot by your bed. Just have a place that when you step in, your heart is conditioned to understand that this is God’s time.

2: Relate With God In Prayer As Your Father And From A Place Of Spiritual Authority:

Coming to God in prayer includes understanding what exactly we are doing, who we are and whose we are. Otherwise prayer time will always be clogged by doubt and wonderings and wanderings of our minds.

Dig into the word of God and get your heart settled on your being a child of God and His promise to always be attentive to your cry/voice.

3: Be Consistent:

Don’t leave your prayer altar languishing from lack of use. Don’t let the fire die out.

An immediate symptom of a life that is on the verge of spiritually dying is the lukewarmness towards prayer. When satan wants to have a man (and woman) regress, he first of all takes away their prayer life (communication with God) so He can have free reign to deal with them.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;..”

-Psalm 91:1,2&9

Who is to make the Lord His refuge?

That responsibility is yours.

We pray that we shall all arise to this in Jesus name, amen!

We have come to the end of this series and we pray that it has fed your soul and been of help in a measure.

Spiritual Growth Series || Practical Tips For Spending Time With God For The Busy Mom/Career Woman Part 2

Last week we shared here that one knowledge that can help the busy mom/professional who wants to spend time with God and hence grow spiritually is the truth that God is everywhere with us. We actually carry God with us as we go about our day. So for the lady who just had life deal her a change blow and cannot spend as much time with God in solitude anymore, this knowledge is a life saver.

What does it mean?

It means that you do not have to hang God out on a hanger to dry when you do not spend one on one time with Him. Time spent with God in solitude is great as we can better hear Him speak with us but life throws us different turns and curves sometimes and somehow the struggle for having a quiet time becomes really real.

What can a lady who really desires to grow in God do then?

1: Examine If You Really Cannot Still Have Your Quiet Time With God:

Sometimes what we cry as “no time” could actually be enough time if we would only be willing and able to make some sacrifices for our relationship with God. Eg, sleep 30 minutes earlier or wake up 30 minutes earlier. Resist the urge to sleep in on a weekend but rather, wake up early to read your Bible and go to sleep after. Spend your break time with your Bible at the cafe instead of chatting with your colleagues. Turning down an invitation to turn up with the girls or with your boo just to spend an evening with God.

Really examine yourself; even with the schedule you have, can you really not spare 30 minutes for God every day?

2: Carry God With You Everywhere:

Instead of always waiting for a solitude time with God to give Him all the gist, practice the art of communicating with God all through your day. Tell Him about your day while in traffic. Play worship music while on your way to and from work and let your heart magnify God as you do so. Meditate on that one verse (if that’s what you were able to get in that day) all through the day while asking God in your heart to shed His light on it and give you insight.

3: Practice The Art Of “Tonguing” In Traffic:

‘Tonguing” is a new word the women at the well have coined for blasting in the Holy Ghost.

We have seen here that speaking in tongues is one way by which we can get spiritually built up and edified. It is a way to dig deep in the Spirit and grow spiritually. One hour a day is a good deal to take with this spiritual drug. But when you cannot find the time or the day to put this in, you can easily clock in two to three hours in traffic during the day .You can have  Ghost party while going to and form work. How does this work?

Get a playlist of some good gospel songs (Spirit pray by Elijah Oyelaide is a great one), plug in your earpiece and speak in tongues quietly to yourself while in the bus or car. Trust me, this habit is an amazing one to have. You can imbibe this so much so that immediately you get in a car/bus your default mode is to start switching into the Spirit.

4: Maximize The Night Time:

If you get home late, instead of just slumping into bed, try to maybe take 10 minutes to just talk to God. Chat with Him. Give Him details about your day. Tell Him you love Him and hear His whispers in return to you.

One of the busy mom/career woman’s constant complaint is the fact that they do not feel close to God anymore.

The Bible says that we should draw close to God and He will draw close to us. Draw close to Him in telling Him the tiny whispers in your heart and take out time to hear Him whisper back.

5: Finally, all these would work only if you are a woman willing to sacrifice and grow spiritually despite circumstances that point to the contrary.. If you truly have a heart for God and want to bridge the gap in your relationship with God then the above would help you. Pray for grace and go drawing near to your heavenly Father no matter what it would take. It may be hard; you may fall sometimes but perfection isn’t the goal, a heart hungry and thirsty for God is.

Lord help me to pursue after you just like a deer pants after water…

Spiritual Growth Series || Tips For Spending Time With God For Moms And Busy Professionals

Life can get so busy and complicated, waking up at 5am is hard enough… Now God is saying spend time with me my daughter

I’m like waking up at 5am I still struggle with leaving the house at 7:30am how then can I make time for you/us?

When you finally get up at 4:50 to spend ten minutes with God, your mind is on the clock! You know for sure that you were cheating on God

The routine keeps going like that without passion.

Love is a choice

Praying is a choice

Constant Communication with God should be a daily decision/choice

If we were to bing our prayer life on feelings we end up lukewarm, and Jesus isn’t a fan of Lukewarm children

Revelations 3:16

16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,b] I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Who is Jesus to you?

That would determine what you do with your quiet time.

Just like the conversation you have with a friend will differ from the one you have with your best friend, father, brother, Lover.

Jesus can be your all when you give Him the time, when that happens you find yourself fulfilling the scripture that says

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 ESV

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing

pray without ceasing because

He is always around you and you are always COMMUNICATING.
