Women Walking In Purpose

Minimeet with Aunty SALT!

It doesn’t get better than the Saturday we had with Aunty Salt on 13th May 2017. It was refreshing, on all levels. All shades of amazeballs.

The mini-meet was slated for 10am in Brown’s cafe and restaurant, off Adeola Odeku in VI Lagos.

Aunty Salt had earlier announced that there would be gifts for the first seven arrivals. She was there before any of us. And yes, she delivered on that promise. Each of the “early birds” got free copies of “The Shack” by WM. Paul Young.

She did not stop there, our Naomi went ahead to post pictures of the first three Ruths to arrive on her IG page. Talk about celebrating even the little acts of excellence.

We started with a prayer of thanksgiving while some more ladies joined us. As we had breakfast, Aunty Salt started by thanking us for honouring her invitation to host us. Huh? Mrs Bola Salt Essien had lost her younger sister AburoChild Mrs Shola “Sholly” Gaska nee Adefolalu barely five months ago in yet to be established, excruciatingly painful circumstances. Her walk of faith at this time is an inspiration to a lot of us in TWTW. So you can imagine her now thanking us  for collectively being her “hook” and helping her deal with here loss as she finds purpose from her pain. No words. Just no words.

One thing was clear from the word go, a fact Aunty Salt put in words several times. She had not called us together to waste our time. She came prepared to give, to pour of  the Water God had given her on and in us. She was there to be as open as possible so we could learn.

Some parts, I would quote her verbatim. Other times, I would write as I understood. As you join me, I pray the reason for this meet would be actualized in your life as well, just as if you were physically present.

First Words

There is a difference between being ready for marriage and getting ready for the wedding. As Christians, God expects us to do marriage different from the world. And until we are ready to do it the way God wants, He sees us as not ready for marriage. This is one reason a lot of  Christians are still unmarried. God loves us too much to allow us mess up our lives and that of His other sons and daughters in the name of marriage. He keeps us out to groom us for Marriage His Way.

To build anything, the foundation is critical, for if the foundation be faulty, even the righteous might become helpless.

First, know yourself in God before thinking marriage.

Then respectfully develop yourself. Build yourself into the kind of spouse you would like.

This starts with the reason for entering a relationship with a particular young man or woman. What is the love predicated upon? Looks, Money, Connection, Talent, Charisma, Fear of God, Humility, etc. Good as all these are, they form a shaky foundation at best to build something as important as marriage. This is because these traits are transient. A love based on any would die when the underlying factor fades away or changes. As a Christian, we should love just because…unconditionally, just like God did for us. Romans 5:8. The best time to practise this is in the single and unmarried state. Showing love to people all around us and loving up on our very first husband- Jesus Christ.

Keep the marriage bed undefiled. Pre-marital sex is still  a Sin that attracts punishment. God will forgive, but the individuals will pay. Whatsoever a man Soweth, that he shall reap.

Also, communication is very key. Do not leave room for assumptions.

Right from dating and courtship, discus issues and be open to each other.

Never believe otherwise, marriage is good and sex (In marriage) is beautiful.

Four truths to know before getting married.

  1. There is no ready made soul mate in terms of personality and character. Two dissimilar people based on their unconditional love for each other go through the process of becoming soul mates. What matters most is a person with a teachable spirit.

  2. Stay in your lane, your time will come. Stay hungry for where you want to be, but let that not in any way diminish your contentment with what you have/ where you are at the present.

  3. Never compare your man or your relationship with any one else’s. Every relationship has its own dynamics. Do not be the foolish woman that destroys her home with her own hands.

  4. Sex in marriage is a big deal. It has the ability to set the tone of a lot of things for a couple, especially men.

You know like a good teacher, Aunty Salt started from lighter issues before delving into the weightier ones.

Existing or Living.

Aunty Salt asked us a question: “Think about your life right now; are you living or existing?”

To help us answer the question  better, she provided us guidelines

Existing is full of doing, activities and things. There is a sense of shallowness and dissatisfaction. Nothing you do can ever be enough. It focuses on the individual and his efforts.

Living is full of being. It involves people. It is about pleasing God, being a tool in His hands to save souls, touch lives and benefit somebody else. We are made by God to “be”, not just to “do” hence the term “human beings” instead of “human doings”. When we become in line with God’s purpose then can our doings also please Him and be rewarded.

Matthew 5: 44-46: “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. [45] Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? [46] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.” ( emphasis mine).

Caution: Let charity begin at home. Whatever grace we exhibit and distribute outside, our household should be the first beneficiaries of that grace and even greater graces.

The conclusion of the whole matter.

Eternal life is the ultimate of our entire existence. Whatever else we do, even as we fulfil purpose, we must never lose focus of heaven. No matter the challenges and temptations, never accept / give in to the lie of the enemy that we are merely human. No. No. Nay. We are not only human. In fact, we are not human at all. We are spirit beings in human flesh as a prerequisite to exist in this realm.

How is it possible to live heavenly conscious you may ask? Do not make Jesus Christ number one in your life. Because that would mean that after you give Him priority as number one, you can still go and attend to other numbers on your list as if He never existed. Instead of making Him number one or  any other number, make Christ the centre of your life. Let every other aspect of your life draw from Him as the constant. Live as if the trumpet would sound that very second.

Let the difference between you and the world be visible, just like that between darkness and light.

Item Sevens.

Then it was time for lunch. There was a slight change in timing due to a family outing our Aunty Salt had.  Somehow, lunch was not ready at the rescheduled time and girls were already hungry. Lol. So we descended back on the breakfast layout and concluded the judgement on the sandwiches and cakes. Shopping at the Salt Market where we bought without money also continued.

At around this time, Aunty Salt left us for her family engagement. Of course not without very strict instructions that we do adequate justice to the food prepared.😂😂

Finally, the 3 course meal was ready, buffet style.😁😁

We dug into the sumptuous lunch while feeding on the Living Bread and drinking from The Living  Well, so the heading Items Sevens is deliberate.

Frances shared on Authentic Christianity, which is not in church attendance or being fluent in  christianese, rather of following the example of Christ. It is desiring God above any gift we could ever get from him or desire. A Christianity where Christ is not the utmost desire, but the only desire. Where we crave God, just for Himself, and cherish His fellowship, simply because He is. The gift must never come before the giver, else it becomes an idol.

Tioluwanimi shared on knowing God on a personal level. Such that when you call God a name, it is not from a posse of cliches, rather it is from a place of knowing God in that capacity.  Authentic Christianity is learning what God would have us learn in every situation, allowing the challenge to train us and work out patience so we can be a help to someone else who would pass through that same road in the future and need encouragement from us.

As an authentic Christianity, learn how to own up to your mistakes when you fail, confess them to God, and be sure to shut the devil down when he tries to accuse you. She recommended “Battle Field of the mind” by Joyce Meyer and “Crash the ChatterBox” by Steven Furtick.

The Preacher’s Kid added that for us to be authentic Christians, our eyes must be firmly fixed on Jesus Christ and not on any man. Christ is the standard, and only him is the author and finisher of our faith.

Toni  (Oluwatea) wrapped it up by encouraging us to be our brothers keeper. We should encourage a wounded soldier or a Christian that stumbled instead of casting him aside with harsh criticism, by so doing, we would all grow.

Final words.

Do not wait till everything is available. Start that big dream in a small way. Impact a life, even if it is just a single person.

Do not be afraid to make mistakes, just remember to move on from it. A mistake is just an event. Do not let it define your life.

Celebrate little victories. Celebrate your self. Celebrate each other

As expected, we wrapped up with a wonderful time of prayer- short yet inspired, that our testimony of new birth would never be a past tense. May  we never see our Christianity as been there, done that.

Special thanks to our special hostess Bose and Mr Jide (that helped us with the photographs) both of Browns Cafe and Restaurant.

Christian, Tobi and the entire Team of Sweet Kiwi Frozen Yoghurt that delivered our surprise promptly despite the short notice, even when we had to change the delivery time to fit into the new schedule.

If you missed this meet, don’t worry, God’s got you. Our next full meet come up in June 2017, that’s next month. Follow the blog and like our Facebook page for full details as soon as they are released.

Stay blessed.

Woman Walking In Purpose: Gabby Ekesiobi

We are so excited to share this today.

Once every month we shall bring us an interview from a woman commited to walking in God’s purpose for her life.

We hope that you are blessed and also encouraged to walk in God’s will for your life and nothig else.

Meet our amazing woman walking in purpose for this month below..

1. Can we meet you ma’am?

My name is Ekesiobi Ifeoma Gabriella aka Gabbyspeaks {that name always reminds me of my purpose } *story for another day*. I am a blogger, a teen and relationship coach and also a speaker.

2. Myles Munroe said “when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable” Can you please help us define and throw more light on what it means for a woman to walk in purpose?

Purpose can be defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. For a woman to walk in purpose it means she understands why she is here, why she is existing and taking steps to fulfill her purpose. She isn’t just aware of her purpose but she is taking deliberate steps to make sure she fulfils why she is here.

3. Please share with us your background to walking in purpose… Did you always have a blueprint of it?

I would say I am taking one step at a time. I remember when I gave my life to Jesus in 2006, I remember being at my secondary school desk that day after crying over my sins for 4 hours. I asked Jesus to come into my heart, be my Lord, my best friend, lover and my everything. I remember telling him to show me what am really to do for him. After a while, I started having dreams seeing myself saving young people like myself from a dirty river. Sometimes I saw myself telling young people to follow a particular path and a whole lot of revelations. I was young so I just set out telling others about Jesus. I told as many as I could, class mates, room mates and friends. I wouldn’t say I had a blue print. I just followed the leading of the Holy Spirit, what ever he tells me to do, I do! I just studied God’s Word and allowed it to work in me. I was more concerned about pleasing Jesus and do that which he yearns for. I joined the Bible study unit in FCS Federal Government Girls College, Bwari Abuja. I remember teaching with so much passion that wasn’t found amongst young people my age. I just knew that God has called me to raise a banner in my time. It’s been progressive ever since, from teens to youths. I am out for the young telling them how much Jesus loves them and how their past doesn’t matter to him.

4. You recently marked the anniversary of your blog and online church, can you tell us more about it.

Yes, I continued serving the Lord by his grace since I was 14 years old, not without our relationship ups and downs *laughs*. If you know what I mean. After I left the University my purpose became clearer to me. I just didn’t know how to reach out to more audience now that I was out of the University. So the idea of starting up a blog was given to me. After a whole lot of “God I can’t even write, God who will read what I write, God I have a problem with consistency and all the complaining, I started. So Gabbyspeaks.com was born. I write more about relationships because in my journey with the Lord, I realized my wrong choice of relationships really caused a lot of rising and falling. My heart yearns to see young people get into destiny relationships that draws them closer to the Lord. My blog is majorly a relationship blog. I write as am inspired. I celebrated 2 years of blogging in October 2016. It’s been great.

I also co-founded a singles group called LIGHT BEARERS. It started in October 2016. We call it our e-church. We have up to 50 singles in the group. Our focus is living for Jesus and becoming like him in this season of singleness and beyond. We had our first hangout in October and in December 2016 we had a prayer retreat.

At the prayer retreat in December 2016
At the prayer retreat in December 2016

It’s been a great experience which I won’t trade for anything. God has been good.

5. Must a woman be a Pastor, church minister or the likes before she can be seen as walking in purpose?

I don’t think you must be a pastor, Minister or any of such. All you need to be is be a woman that loves Jesus and spends quality time with him.

6. What do you think about the place of God in fulfilling purpose and being an effective apostle in the market place.

God is above all. God is to be evident in all we do everywhere we find ourselves. Let our lives be a living epistle for every one to read.

7. Is it possible to serve God wholly, maintain godly standards and still succeed in the marketplace (business/corporate world?

Of course, it’s possible. Serving God starts with a right heart. Our heart condition is a very effective factor to determine if we will serve him wholly and maintain Godly standards. Maintaining Godly standards is also very possible, when I set out into my professional career at first I found it difficult to maintain a good quiet time, study time and prayer time. I prayed for wisdom and was led to start doing things differently. I knew that to maintain a Godly standard in the market place my secret place has to be intact. It starts with putting God first and seeing his hands in every little details of our professional lives. Personal walk with God affects our outward manifestation. So it’s possible.

8. Who are your role models/mentors/disciplers who have helped you on this journey.

My dad is my role model, he is a man I really look up to. He has been a very great role model. I love the way he teaches the Word and his standards in ministry. Mrs Chinyere Abba is my mentor, she’s a great woman and I celebrate God’s grace upon her life. If there is any woman I follow up online, read her blog, watch her teachings and just feed on every word it’s Priscilla Shirer. I love her teaching style and I celebrate God for her each time I ever get to listen to her.

9. What advice do you have for other ladies – single or married, who desire to walk in purpose as #apostlesinthemarketplace?

I will tell you this, build your relationship with the Lord. The truth remains that, your personal light will always shine. Your relationship with the Lord always reflects on the outside. Find purpose, pursue purpose, love the Lord with your whole heart and trust him.

10. What book, article or sermon would you recommend for anyone – male or female, struggling to walk in purpose.

I Will recommend some books that have helped my purpose walk: Understanding the purpose and power of men by Myles Munroe;  Understanding the purpose and power of women by Myles Munroe;  7 signposts to your assignment by Mike Murdock;   Prepare for War by Rebecca Brown Don’t let the devil destroy your purpose by Robert Liardon; God’s Generals by Robert Liardon;  Tongues beyond the upper room by Kenneth E. Hagin. For women I will recommend Kathryn Kuhlman ( A spiritual biography of God’s miracle worker by Robert Liardon)

Thanks for your time sis. We are honoured.

We hope that  something resounded in your heart from Gabby’s words.

Thabk you souch Gabby for pouring out your heart to us.

Till next month when we bring another   amazing woman our way.

Be a woman committee to walking in God’s will for her life.

WWIP Series || For When You Are Released To Run In Your Purpose

This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series Women walking In Purpose Series

We have been having an amazing time so far on the “Women Walking In Purpose Series”.

We have come through defining what purpose is.
Being a single woman ready to walk in purpose.
Being a worthy vessel in God’s hands.
Today, we finally come to the point where you are released to walk in purpose.
The funny thing about the release/run time is that it happens in stages.
Some persons even while being pruned/prepared are already walking in their God-given assignments.
Remember David?
Even as a shepherd boy being prepared in the bush, he still had sheep and goats he was taking care of.
Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
-1Samuel 16:11
While you are still being prepared, you may still be walking actively in a bit of your purpose in God.
But do not be deceived here.
Do not think that you have arrived and start getting a big head.
Remember purpose isn’t about you, its about God and would always be about Him.
Whatever you actually start doing at this point is actually a test of your faithfulness, humility, etc.
If you prove faithful in the little, God would bring much into your hands.
The release stage is the stage where what you have learned in preparation stage can now be poured out into lives.
You use what you have learnt in preparation stage to bless and impact lives.
But remember in this stage it grows from level to level. You need to hear God speak in each level and walk closely attuned to Him as He takes you through this season.
It’s a journey to walk in God’s purpose for our lives and as you do your part to walk in steps with God, God will do His part to bring you into the seasons He has ordained for you.
Don’t be in a hurry to blow. Be willing to be worked on. Even without accolades, be willing to prove faithful wherever God has placed you and as God sees your heart, He will take you to where you need to be in Him.
So finally: Wait –>fill up—>prepare—->move into what God has for you.
And with this episode we come to the end of this series.
There will be more on here on purpose as we go on this year.
We desire to raise up women of purpose for God and God willing we shall do so.
We hope that you will be a part of the God kind of women God is raising… you shall fulfill your destiny in Jesus name, amen

“Focus”: For The Lady Who Is Called

This entry is part 4 of 5 in the series Women walking In Purpose Series

This study is transcribed from our online group study.

We are basically going to be on an exposition on 2nd Timothy.

About two days ago i found myself watching a movie.

I stopped any movie that wasn’t a Christian movie in 2015. That was the year God opened my eyes to see that were basically distractions. So i lost interest in movies.

End of last year when i was a bit weak i picked up movies –  “jenifa’s diary” specifically in an attempt to drown myself and not think about stuff. When I was ready to begin my normal life in God again i deleted all of them.

Last two days again i found myself downloading the latest episode. GOD began to give me a warning sign. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.

Yes movies aren’t wrong but Paul says “all things are lawful but not all things are beneficial”.

Hopefully at the end of this study we will also see what things are beneficial and what isn’t and align with what God is saying to us PERSONALLY.

First thing that struck me about the study is the fact that some of us may argue that we aren’t called.

This is for the called. But what does it really to be called?

And which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,”

-2 Timothy 1:10-11 ESV

for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher,

-2 Timothy 1:11 ESV

Paul says I have been appointed to be an apostle and teacher.

So I noted to myself. What have you been appointed for? Because the lack of focus starts from losing focus on what you have been appointed for first of all.

You can get a journal. Write “what has the Lord appointed me (your name) for?

Only you can answer that question for yourself.

Second question that drew my attention…

By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.

-2 Timothy 1:14 ESV

What good deposit has been entrusted to you? What spiritual deposit has the Lord put in your hands?

Like i said get a journal and note yours.

I was answering the questions as i studied.

I wrote, my deposits: Twtw, ngo, books, blog, the lives of other ladies connected to mine, my gifts of encouragement, wisdom, insight, spiritual insight into the Word of God..etc

God says guard those gifts and what has been given to you by the power of the holy Spirit.

I have had two dreams in the last few weeks that showed me while i am resting and trying to form tired, the deposits are the target of satan. Paul wouldn’t tell Timothy to guard them if they didn’t need guarding.

Remember the man-child we spoke on at the last meet? It is real.

I can’t go into the details of my dreams but while praying the only word that was ringing in my head was “guard the deposits that the Lord has given to you’.

You know sometimes we think we are small and have nothing in us but for every one of us there is a deposit that has been given to us and it is not guarded by gist and the world. It is guarded by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. So if you have been thinking that you have nothing in you and have been relaxed even in this year…. Lax prayer life, lax word life.. God says guard that which I have given to you It’s not anyone else’s work to guard, its yours.

Like i said before, this study may not be for everyone but i trust that who needs it, will be spoken to.

So how do we stay on track? By having an eternal mindset. Just as there are rules to the physical race, there are rules to the spiritual race.

The physical race seems more real because it’s what we see, but it’s not.

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.

-2 Timothy 2:3-5 ESV

I was asking God what rules?

Number 1 rule: we are working for God

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 ESV

The version I used to study says “do your best to gain FULL approval from God”.

Meaning FULL approval on this race can only come from God.

This number one rule i struggle a lot of times. *confession* i struggle with this even in twtw.

And the Lord will tell me: “men didn’t call you to this, i did. You don’t gain approval from men, you gain approval from me”.

In the same way for us, in whatever God has called us to. Be it a job etc, men aren’t the one to say “good job” to you. God is.

And when it seems like you are drifting off into wanting approval from men, stop, reassess yourself and motives and ask God for grace for your heart to be realigned. We work as unto the Lord not as unto men.

Every other thing or person the Lord wants to add to us is just jara.

Rule number 2: cleanse yourself.

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:20-22 ESV

The world conveniently forget this part of being a READY vessel for God. Not every vessel can be used for great work. And guess who determines what they will be used for? YOU.

And this is not only talking about outward sins but the heart What is the state of your heart lately? Some unforgiveness? Lying? Judgmental attitude? Hate? Gossip? Pride? What kind of vessel are you right now? One fit for honourable use or for ordinary use? Can your vessel bear the things God has entrusted unto you?

I know we all speak Christianese but what has your heart been looking like lately? I know our family members think that we are standard Christians but whats in there? Vessel for great use or ordinary use? I know myself and we all know ourselves Only us can know how far we have fallen Get back up. Rededicate yourself for His use I feel certain that more than ever before God is looking for vessels who can do His work on the earth. HIS HANDS AND FEET.

Will He find you? Will He find me?

As much as events are good… mingle and network. But that’s not what gives God the vessel He can use.Even in business He needs a vessel He can use.

Those vessels are scraped and cleansed in the backyard. Where they drop all that can stand as a hindrance to the manifestation of this deposit in them.

For me its my word life. Everyone may feel that I am full of the word.Someone commented on a group I shared with that I am worded woman but i am far off from where God wants me to.

You know yourself.

Men may use you a standard but don’t be deceived. Ask the Lord today..

Lord how is my vessel before you? Is there more work to be done? Help me Holy Spirit Come purge me. Cleanse me. Wash me from the inside out.

Rule Number 3: you have to be READY for every good work.

Contrary to public opinion God, doesn’t just call people out of the blues. He calls cleansed, ready vessels who has submitted to preparation.

Elisha was called ready. David was called ready. Both men were doing other work but their vessels were in such a state that they could enter into manifesting their deposits when God said Now.

How has been your vessel been lately?

Rule number 4: You must be accountable to someone

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:22 ESV

Paul told Timothy “pursue after the right things TOGETHER with those who call upon the Lord with a pure heart”

How has your associations been lately?

As iron sharpens iron or as a dull axe? Are you flying solo or do you have spiritual authority over you?

At warri meet the lady i met up with. She gave me her book she wanted me to help publish and as i sat reading God began to speak to me. At a point i started crying. A spectacle at chicken Republic .

God confirmed things He had told me about growth in 2016.

He had told my growth physically is closely ties to my ascendancy in the Spirit and He told her same thing. As i kept reading and wiping my eyes, He said “accountability partner… her”.

God Himself knew I needed someone I could grow in Him together with and be held in track in Him this year.

If you are serious about getting focused about your call and what God has put in you.. ask the Lord for help. Someone who can you call upon Him together with pure hearts.

You need someone to sharpen you and no it’s not gisting partner and no, it’s not just TWTW either.

We can pour out water in the form of bible studies and prayer on TWTW but the place you need to get to, you need more than this.

Final rule, Number 5: Run this race with eternity in view.

Some of us are too earthly minded. Myself inclusive.

But what really matters sisters?

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:6-8 ESV

Why do we lose focus? We lose sight of our deposits and lose sight of the reward for what we carry. The reward isn’t instagram likes, neither is it awards by anyone, the reward is at the end of race given by one person only – GOD.

I read that and was blown away by Paul’s confidence.

“I have run the race and finished my course”..

Will we able to be able to say that at the end of time? On this pace that we are on?

By pace I mean with the kind of mindset we have?

What things are you living for?

Whats your heart set on?

Are you trapped here or in eternity?

Even the job you do with what mindset are you doing it?

Just like Jesus did that day at the well; He is sitting here looking for who will come for His water and chose to see the way He sees.

Are there women who still know what they carry for God and are committed to seeing it birthed for eternity sake?

This was the last verse I read:

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ESV.

Everyone may run but not everyone would win /get to the end. To me it hit me deeply.

I knelt asking God for grace and asking for the same for us in twtw too.

If you have lost focus or are about to…come back.

The journey is still far,and the Lord is still looking for you to work for Him.

Look upwards.

Look to God.

What matters lies in Him.

Perhaps this is a call back for me as well as for someone else out there.

I was convicted as i studied and I have obeyed and shared.

I know that part of my work is to raise women filled with Jesus and not just for themselves but to raise up others too.

So my heart was just been rend apart as I studied.

Where are we missing it Lord?

Please show us.

Please restore us.

Please help us.

Grace Lord.

I pray we stay faithful till the end.

That we also like Paul can say i ran my course and finished it.

Focus: Focus On the things that matter.

Lord help us all.

WWIP series || The Path To Being An Effective Vessel in God’s Hands

This entry is part 3 of 5 in the series Women walking In Purpose Series
On our last post in the “women walking in purpose series”, we talked about the single woman who wants to walk in purpose.
And on who she needs to be a vessel in God’s hands, see post HERE if you missed it.
Today we will go further into how to be a vessel in God’s hands.
Ofcourse, with all we have been talking about, you know that preparation plays a big part in walking in the purpose for which God has created you to fulfill.
No, you won’t just jump up and start doing great things for God.
There is a process that you must go through to be an effective vessel in God’s hands.
The preparation stage is the molding stage, the making stage, the pruning stage, the “sit- down-relax-and-let-God-work-on-you” stage and this stage takes a while to complete.
You know, even after you have come through the first stage – your heart is right with God… where you are truly complete and single in Him and you love Him, you desire Him and He has told you your path of destiny in Him (this path of destiny if fulfilled in steps by step by the way), you still have to go through the preparation stage.
This preparation stage is where many fail at.
Because it may seem like nothing is happening yet and every other person is making headway in the world, but God has given you big promises that don’t seem to be coming to pass.
He has said you will be a great speaker and transform lives for Him.
Or an amazing doctor with the healing touch etc., but all you have right now is one quack hospital that doesn’t even pay you up to 20,000 Naira in a month.
You are still being prepared and molded for your destiny.
This stage cannot be skipped .
“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:21-22 ESV)
At first glance, this passage may not mean a thing. But notice that the Lord MADE THE WOMAN.
He sculpted her.
He molded her.
He wasn’t just making her body, He was making even her inside and all that she needs to do life in Him and for Him.
It’s same with the preparation season.
In this season, God molds us. Makes us. Sharpens us.
We cannot go into fulfilling purpose as raw materials.
Some of us still have character issues we need to let God work on. Some of us still need to build capacity and depth inside. Some of us still needs to be pruned.
Jesus says:
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.” (John 15:1-2 NLT)
Pruning is a process where a tree/plant is being trimmed and cut so it can grow in a better way. The pruning process is always a very hard and painful process but very necessary for one who wants to walk in divine purpose.
So many ladies crash and burn when they jump out to start “doing things” without preparation. Like a shooting star, they shine and flash through the sky but die quickly because they have no depth.
After God gives you a vision of your life, let Him prepare you for it. Sit down and be willing to be worked on. To be MADE by God. To be pruned. To be made in character, attitude and to have depth spiritually. For your roots to grow strong in Christ before He releases you to function deeply in and for Him.
You sit down and let God mold you for you to be able to work your own journey.
We may have come to Christ and have a new Spirit but still have so much God has to prune off of us.
Competition spirit.
Low spiritual growth.
Lack of wisdom.
No depth.
Character deficit. Etc.
All these are things God has to prune out of us else they will make us crash and burn if we are released to walk fully in purpose before we are worked on.
In this preparation stage, let your heart be at rest. Even if your friends are ahead of you, remember that it’s not a competition.
The society today wants to make it and make it fast. But Jesus prepared for 30 years for a 3-year ministry. John the Baptist too prepared in the wilderness.
When you are in your preparation season, no one may know you but that’s okay.
Be a youth with a difference. Let what drives you be different. Allow God mold you.
In this preparation stage, your highest work is to be devoted to God. To be like Mary sitting at the Lord’s feet. Filling up.
“Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42 ESV)
Mary wasn’t stupid. It seemed like she was doing nothing by sitting at Jesus’ feet and Martha even got angry at her, but Jesus said she has chosen the best option/portion.
You can’t be pumped for ministry if you are not first pumped for God.
And “there has to be a filling up so there can be a bursting forth”.
You have to fill up first to be able to have anything to give out otherwise, you will crash and burn.
I believe that you don’t want to crash and burn.
You want to last on the road God wants you to go on. So you have to sit down and prepare first, even in the wilderness where no one knows you.
Be molded.
Be prepared
Let God sit on you and make you…
At this preparation stage, you may even have some things you are doing, but do not be deceived. You are still being prepared. Do not tabernacle there and ride on the praises of people when you are not fully released.
God tests us even in this stage and what He gives you at preparation stage maybe to test your faithfulness. You still need to prove that you can be faithful at, even without acknowledgement or fame.

“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:23 ESV)

The only one you are aiming to please is God and when He says “wait let me prepare you to be a ready instrument for my purpose”, PLEASE WAIT.

WWIP Series || For The Single Woman Who Wants To Walk In Purpose

This entry is part 2 of 5 in the series Women walking In Purpose Series

Last week our sister Distinguished introduced our #WomenWalkingInPurpose series here

Today, I want to talk about the woman who walks in purpose.

More particularly I mean YOU.

What type of woman should you be to walk in purpose?

The WWIP is for both single and married ladies, but for today we will focus on the single lady (all our married ladies, keep a date here next week. A fellow married lady will be sharing with you on walking in purpose as a married woman).

As we know, a single person is one not in a relationship or entanglement with anyone. Or a woman who may be in a relationship but isn’t married yet.

Purpose, as we know, is the reason for which a thing has been made. For example, we can say that a pen is made to be used to write.

We humans were made to show forth God’s glory and in so doing, bring men to Christ.

But then, there are different spheres in life and God may want each person to focus on a particular sphere and so He uses the person’s gifts, talent, life experiences etc. for His purpose in an area He wants to use the person in.

The first thing we as singles must know is that we ONLY FIND PURPOSE IN GOD.

It is in Him we live, move and have our being. We do not pursue purpose; we pursue God and as we do so, He opens up to us on what He has created us to do since the beginning of time. As you go deeper into God, just loving Him and desiring to live for Him, He fills you up with His heart and plans concerning your life.

Purpose can never be found outside of God. The world today uses the “purpose” word quite loosely but before the place of “use your gifts” comes in, the place of “find your God” must be established. If you desire to make an impact and function in your divine destiny, you simply have to come to the end of yourself and go back to the One who created you with a destiny.

True divine purpose leads right back to God – the manufacturer – the maker of the person.

Only the manufacturer can tell you what He made the product for.

Inside of God is hidden your destiny and purpose. Your gifts, talents etc. point towards that path you are to tow but you need to tow it in God, listening for His voice every step of the way. As you go deeper into God, then you find out that the gifts, talents and experiences you have gone through in life are all meant to prepare you for what God wants you to do on earth FOR HIM.

No one can tell you what your particular purpose is (cheers to bursting the bubble of all who look to prophets). I can only give a general overview of what points to it but you have to go back to God to get your bearing in life and the role you are to play in Him and for Him.

Now as a single lady who wants to walk in purpose, please answer this question: “Are you truly single?”

Is your heart indeed fully with the Lord?

Are you being tugged in every direction, in every way?

“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone…”

-Genesis 2:18 ESV

Adam was single, alone in the garden before God said He would give him a wife.

Can you stand being alone with God?

One of the reasons why singles find it hard to stay single is the desire to be married they have in their hearts which is a good thing. God placed this desire in us.

But is your desire a healthy or desperate one?

Do you want to be married at all cost because you think you aren’t complete?

The Bible says that “we are complete in Christ”. So the only one needed for a single lady’s completion is Christ Jesus.

I also was at a stage where I couldn’t stand being alone. I used boys to fill up my empty spaces.

One relationship today and another tomorrow; begging and expecting guys to just keep me busy and whisper love to my ears. I kept falling in a pit till I realized that only God can make me complete and filled up in Him.

If this person who isn’t complete in Christ is you or you find yourself trying to fill up your empty spaces with guys, sex, drugs, dates, friends etc. there is no judgment here. I have also tried to fill up with sex and all those, so no judgment. All you can do now is to move ahead.

Ask God to come in and fill up your empty spaces. Get to the end of yourself. Admit that none of that is working; all they give is temporary satisfaction.

Sometimes, we just run around and around when God is saying that it’s still good for you to be single.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

-John 15:5

The first place to start as a single woman on your walk in God’s purpose for your life is not at running around with assignments but in sitting still to receive from your vine – Jesus.

You need to get your relationship on track with God.

Get fulfillment from Him and get filled up with Him.

That is the first criteria to being a single women walking in purpose.

If you know in your heart that your heart still doesn’t belong wholly to the Lord as a single lady, then please pray the prayer below:

LORD, I am sorry for trying to find completion in all the wrong places. Please fill me up with Yourself. I want to enter into a deeply satisfying relationship with You. Help me Lord, in Jesus Name I have prayed…Amen.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards walking in God’s purpose for your life as a single woman.

Now, here are some practical steps to going back to being filled with Jesus;

a) Sincerely and from your heart (this is the only criteria for this prayer), ask Jesus to come and help you.

For you are tired of the way you have been living. You may be a Christian already, but you know that your heart isn’t set on God singularly. Just know that God loves you and wants to help you.

b) Establish a regular quiet time and start spending time with God.

I started this using devotionals but gradually grew to where I started getting hungry for the word myself. You can grow gradually. As you spend more time with Jesus, He helps you grow and continues to fill you up little by little.

c) Ask for grace to let go of the vices you struggle with.

These vices may be sex, pornography, bad friends, going on unnecessary dates just to pass the time, etc.

Begin a new walk with God. Realize that flesh can’t help you. Ask God for His grace.

Addictions can only be overcome through God’s help. You can become single and wholly focused on God again.

D) Have a mentor who you can stay accountable to.

Find someone who spills out Jesus from her character, behavior, words etc. To disciple and guide you in your walk with God.

We must realize that even as single ladies, God wants us to be firmly rooted in Him.

Relationship comes before bearing fruit for God.

Walking with God comes before working for God.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble [use] and some for menial and ignoble [use].

So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.”

-2Timothy 2:20&21

God seeks vessels He can use for His work but these vessels cannot be just anyone.

Actually if you want to be just any kind of vessel, the passage above says that you will be used for menial and ignoble use.

But if you will live set apart as a single woman, enjoying a deeply satisfying relationship with God, walking in Him in every way, then you can be a vessel set apart and consecrated for honorable purposes.

I pray that this new year as a single woman, you will walk withGod in a way that when He looks for a honorable vessel to use for His purpose on earth, He will find you. In Jesus name, amen.

introducing: women walking in purpose series

This entry is part 1 of 5 in the series Women walking In Purpose Series

Hello Twtw family, happy new year…. For this year and most especially this month, we are Introducing our #WomenWalkingInPurpose Series.

We hope to also raise our women to walk in line with God’s will and purpose for their lives.
We hope that woman is you.
Introducing the #WWIP Series is our sister Chinyere Distinguished

Purpose is defined as the reason for existence; the reason for which something exists or for which it has been done or made (Source: Prezi.com).

The primary purpose of all human existence is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Taking it a step further, the primary purpose of all Christians is to “go and tell” and make disciples of all nations – Evangelise and bring lost souls back to God (Mark 16:15-16, Mathew 28:19).
Myles Munroe rightly said, “When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable”. As individuals, we each have our unique roles to play in God’s purpose for all mankind and Christians in particular.

Discovering your unique role(s) is the first step to fulfilling your purpose on earth. If you haven’t discovered your God given purpose yet, Frances Okoro’s “10 Steps To Walking In Purpose” will be very helpful. (You can download the eBook for free Here).

Whatever our unique role is, our lifestyle, gifts, skills, talents, resources and opportunities should ultimately bring glory to God and draw souls to His Kingdom. We are to live out His purpose wherever we find ourselves – in the school, home, church, market, office, neighbourhood or foreign land.

This series on Women Walking In Purpose (WWIP) is set to help us – men and women, young and old, single and married, to learn/know more about walking in our God-given purposes wherever we find ourselves.

The WWIP series will feature interviews from different women – single and married, who are already walking in purpose to give us a clearer view into the lives of biblical/contemporary men and women who are positively impacting lives and the world at large by walking in their God-given purpose in various fields of life.

Keep a date with this series every Monday,  let’s grow together and become more purposeful in our walk with God.
