WWIP Series || For The Single Woman Who Wants To Walk In Purpose

Last week our sister Distinguished introduced our #WomenWalkingInPurpose series here
Today, I want to talk about the woman who walks in purpose.
More particularly I mean YOU.
What type of woman should you be to walk in purpose?
The WWIP is for both single and married ladies, but for today we will focus on the single lady (all our married ladies, keep a date here next week. A fellow married lady will be sharing with you on walking in purpose as a married woman).
As we know, a single person is one not in a relationship or entanglement with anyone. Or a woman who may be in a relationship but isn’t married yet.
Purpose, as we know, is the reason for which a thing has been made. For example, we can say that a pen is made to be used to write.
We humans were made to show forth God’s glory and in so doing, bring men to Christ.
But then, there are different spheres in life and God may want each person to focus on a particular sphere and so He uses the person’s gifts, talent, life experiences etc. for His purpose in an area He wants to use the person in.
The first thing we as singles must know is that we ONLY FIND PURPOSE IN GOD.
It is in Him we live, move and have our being. We do not pursue purpose; we pursue God and as we do so, He opens up to us on what He has created us to do since the beginning of time. As you go deeper into God, just loving Him and desiring to live for Him, He fills you up with His heart and plans concerning your life.
Purpose can never be found outside of God. The world today uses the “purpose” word quite loosely but before the place of “use your gifts” comes in, the place of “find your God” must be established. If you desire to make an impact and function in your divine destiny, you simply have to come to the end of yourself and go back to the One who created you with a destiny.
True divine purpose leads right back to God – the manufacturer – the maker of the person.
Only the manufacturer can tell you what He made the product for.
Inside of God is hidden your destiny and purpose. Your gifts, talents etc. point towards that path you are to tow but you need to tow it in God, listening for His voice every step of the way. As you go deeper into God, then you find out that the gifts, talents and experiences you have gone through in life are all meant to prepare you for what God wants you to do on earth FOR HIM.
No one can tell you what your particular purpose is (cheers to bursting the bubble of all who look to prophets). I can only give a general overview of what points to it but you have to go back to God to get your bearing in life and the role you are to play in Him and for Him.

Now as a single lady who wants to walk in purpose, please answer this question: “Are you truly single?”
Is your heart indeed fully with the Lord?
Are you being tugged in every direction, in every way?
“Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone…”
-Genesis 2:18 ESV
Adam was single, alone in the garden before God said He would give him a wife.
Can you stand being alone with God?
One of the reasons why singles find it hard to stay single is the desire to be married they have in their hearts which is a good thing. God placed this desire in us.
But is your desire a healthy or desperate one?
Do you want to be married at all cost because you think you aren’t complete?
The Bible says that “we are complete in Christ”. So the only one needed for a single lady’s completion is Christ Jesus.
I also was at a stage where I couldn’t stand being alone. I used boys to fill up my empty spaces.
One relationship today and another tomorrow; begging and expecting guys to just keep me busy and whisper love to my ears. I kept falling in a pit till I realized that only God can make me complete and filled up in Him.
If this person who isn’t complete in Christ is you or you find yourself trying to fill up your empty spaces with guys, sex, drugs, dates, friends etc. there is no judgment here. I have also tried to fill up with sex and all those, so no judgment. All you can do now is to move ahead.
Ask God to come in and fill up your empty spaces. Get to the end of yourself. Admit that none of that is working; all they give is temporary satisfaction.
Sometimes, we just run around and around when God is saying that it’s still good for you to be single.

Remember:
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”
-John 15:5
The first place to start as a single woman on your walk in God’s purpose for your life is not at running around with assignments but in sitting still to receive from your vine – Jesus.
You need to get your relationship on track with God.
Get fulfillment from Him and get filled up with Him.
That is the first criteria to being a single women walking in purpose.
If you know in your heart that your heart still doesn’t belong wholly to the Lord as a single lady, then please pray the prayer below:
LORD, I am sorry for trying to find completion in all the wrong places. Please fill me up with Yourself. I want to enter into a deeply satisfying relationship with You. Help me Lord, in Jesus Name I have prayed…Amen.
Congratulations on taking the first step towards walking in God’s purpose for your life as a single woman.
Now, here are some practical steps to going back to being filled with Jesus;
a) Sincerely and from your heart (this is the only criteria for this prayer), ask Jesus to come and help you.
For you are tired of the way you have been living. You may be a Christian already, but you know that your heart isn’t set on God singularly. Just know that God loves you and wants to help you.
b) Establish a regular quiet time and start spending time with God.
I started this using devotionals but gradually grew to where I started getting hungry for the word myself. You can grow gradually. As you spend more time with Jesus, He helps you grow and continues to fill you up little by little.
c) Ask for grace to let go of the vices you struggle with.
These vices may be sex, pornography, bad friends, going on unnecessary dates just to pass the time, etc.
Begin a new walk with God. Realize that flesh can’t help you. Ask God for His grace.
Addictions can only be overcome through God’s help. You can become single and wholly focused on God again.
D) Have a mentor who you can stay accountable to.
Find someone who spills out Jesus from her character, behavior, words etc. To disciple and guide you in your walk with God.
We must realize that even as single ladies, God wants us to be firmly rooted in Him.
Relationship comes before bearing fruit for God.
Walking with God comes before working for God.
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also [utensils] of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble [use] and some for menial and ignoble [use].
So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.”
-2Timothy 2:20&21
God seeks vessels He can use for His work but these vessels cannot be just anyone.
Actually if you want to be just any kind of vessel, the passage above says that you will be used for menial and ignoble use.
But if you will live set apart as a single woman, enjoying a deeply satisfying relationship with God, walking in Him in every way, then you can be a vessel set apart and consecrated for honorable purposes.
I pray that this new year as a single woman, you will walk withGod in a way that when He looks for a honorable vessel to use for His purpose on earth, He will find you. In Jesus name, amen.
