…Of Naomis, Rookie Ruths And Why You Should Have A Christian Mentor

I never understood the concept of submitting/learning from an older authority figure.

I was a solo flyer.
I was a rookie Ruth who:
1: Didn’t know that there was anything like having a Naomi over your life.
2: Didn’t think that there was any need for it.

But flying solo brought on most of the stuff I went through in my young life.
And I know God has a plan for it – my mess to message story, but I also know that a lot of what I encountered would have been avoided if I had a Naomi in my life from a young age.

And this is the reason why I do what I do; trying to mentor and groom young ones to walk in the right path.

Enter TWTW March Meet: Bridging The Gap Between Naomis And Ruths…

I was studying the book of Ruth last year when it was suddenly high lighted in my Spirit that there was a need to bridge the gap between Naomis and Ruths in today’s world.

Even in the Christian circles, we rarely have the young ladies going to the older ones for advice.

Very few young ladies take advantage of the amazing Naomis that they have all around them.

“But Ruth said, “Don’t force me to leave you; don’t make me go home. Where you go, I go; and where you live, I’ll live. Your people are my people, your God is my god; where you die, I’ll die, and that’s where I’ll be buried, so help me God —not even death itself is going to come between us!”
Ruth 1:16‭-‬17 MSG
Ruth understood something that today’s modern Christian young women do not seem to grasp…yet.

She followed an older woman who seemingly had nothing to give her but had everything.

In spiritual matters Naomi was her guide..

your God is my god;…

In business matters Naomi was her guide…
“One day Ruth, the Moabite foreigner, said to Naomi, “I’m going to work; I’m going out to glean among the sheaves, following after some harvester who will treat me kindly.” Naomi said, “Go ahead, dear daughter.”
Ruth 2:2 MSG

Ruth 2:2 MSG
In marriage/marital matters Naomi was her guide..
“One day her mother-in-law Naomi said to Ruth, “My dear daughter, isn’t it about time I arranged a good home for you so you can have a happy life? And isn’t Boaz our close relative, the one with whose young women you’ve been working? Maybe it’s time to make our move. Tonight is the night of Boaz’s barley harvest at the threshing floor. “Take a bath. Put on some perfume. Get all dressed up and go to the threshing floor. But don’t let him know you’re there until the party is well under way and he’s had plenty of food and drink. When you see him slipping off to sleep, watch where he lies down and then go there. Lie at his feet to let him know that you are available to him for marriage. Then wait and see what he says. He’ll tell you what to do.” Ruth said, “If you say so, I’ll do it, just as you’ve told me.” She went down to the threshing floor and put her mother-in-law’s plan into action.”
Ruth 3:1‭-‬6 MSG
In motherhood Naomi was her guide…

Boaz married Ruth. She became his wife. Boaz slept with her. By God ’s gracious gift she conceived and had a son. Naomi took the baby and held him in her arms, cuddling him, cooing over him, waiting on him hand and foot. The neighborhood women started calling him “Naomi’s baby boy!” But his real name was Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David.”
Ruth 4:13‭, ‬16‭-‬17 MSG
Like it or not, there is a need for a Naomi in every Rookie Ruth’s life.

Too many of us young women fly solo and so make many mistakes – mistakes Naomis have made on our behalf and we can simply learn from if only we would humble ourselves and stay under them.

So for our first meet on March 4th 2017, we are bringing our Naomis down to us.

We understand that there is a gap that must be filled and we are waiting no more.
We want to bridge that gap.

I believe that this meet will be explosive in God.

Let’s go back to the way it was done in Bible times..
Let’s sit and be groomed by our mothers…
Be mentored by them..
Be inspired by their lives. .
Be filled with wisdom through their experiences…

Join us on March 4th 2017 at Lighthouse International Christian Centre Ogba.
