Guide To Spending Time With God Series || No Condemnation

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 8:1 KJV

Our journey to knowing God better and spending time with Him may be filled with ups and downs – and sometimes let’s admit it, it may be filled with more downs than ups.
Drawing close to God may not be a perpetual high walk in the park.
And so after purposing in your heart and being so excited about sitting before the Lord to drink of Him by 5am, you find yourself still in bed by 6am and when you are late for work who still remembers the promise they made to God the night before?
You decide that you still have lunch break to dig into God but then lunch time comes and you find yourself just so tired all you can do is eat and gist with your colleagues.
You decide that the first thing you will do when you get home is to spend time with God but then you get home and fall into bed without even taking off your clothes!
And now you are really beginning to feel bad and guilty. This same routine has gone on for a week and you cannot even bear to face God with your “sorry self”. The guilt is really weighing on you.. you don’t think that Daddy could ever even be pleased with you.
But here is Daddy’s word to you:
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…
Sometimes in a bid to do good things we get into the law and works. Which simply means we try to gain God’s approval by the good things we want to do. So we think that if we are not doing that good thing then God cannot be pleased with us.
God wants us to spend with Him and delight ourselves in Him but this should come from a place of love and not guilt or works.
It should be that you love God and cannot do without Him and so want to drink of Him as against “if I don’t do this, God won’t even look at poor ol’ me”.
Condemnation is not of God but of satan.
The Holy Spirit’s work is to CONVICT you unto repentance. And once you sincerely repent of your sins/shortcomings this minute or in a second God is right there with you.
The relationship we have with Daddy is one of a Father and son.
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
-Romans 8:15 KJV
You can come to God and say “Daddy I am so sorry, I haven’t been spending time with you as much as I should. Please forgive me. Help me start a new walk with you. Give me the grace and hunger and thirst for you. Fill me with fresh hunger and thirst for your word above sleep and tiredness. Let you be the one I truly desire more than anything else.
You can pray like that and start a new day with God knowing that His mercies are new everyday.
Wherever you have been in your relationship with God. You can start a fresh walk with Him today. Even when you fall, you can go back to Him and ask for grace. He gives grace, not condemnation.
Till next time on the series,
Lots of Love,
